NEXGEN Cabinet Doors In Tafisa Feria And Viva Colours
Looking for NEXGEN cabinet doors in the Tafisa Feria and Viva colours? Learn why the collection and supplier matters and more.
Most suppliers just sell you a product without considering whether it’s the right fit for you. If you’re here, it’s because you’re interested in selling NEXGEN cabinet doors but aren’t sure if they’re the best choice. You want to be the go-to installer in your area, known for quality work and on-time results. Low-quality products just won’t cut it.
So, are NEXGEN doors any good? What should you know before you decide to sell them?
At Cutting Edge, we’ve worked with NEXGEN cabinet doors for over five years. We know these products inside and out. Since there are many options under the NEXGEN umbrella, we’ll break it down one choice at a time to keep things simple.
In this article, you’ll get the basics on NEXGEN cabinet doors in Tafisa colours, including:
NEXGEN™ materials are wrapped products with an MDF core
Beginning in the early 2000s Olon Industries Inc. began developing their now-trademarked NEXGEN™ materials. Their products have either a TFL or laminate decorative wrap formed around a shaped MDF core.
This construction method allows cabinet door manufacturers to sell NEXGEN doors as a high-quality and durable option at a reasonable price – roughly half the cost of a comparable wood door.
Over the years since then, more companies have partnered with Olon Industries to develop a range of NEXGEN materials. Tafisa® was one, and Uniboard® was another.
In this article, we look at products by Tafisa within two collections – Feria® and Viva®.
Each supplier and collection has different characteristics and pricing
You might wonder why you can’t read an overview of NEXGEN products covering the gamut of options. Why does it need to be split down by supplier and collection?
As you can imagine, each supplier prices their products differently. If this was the only unique characteristic, then this might be a different article entirely.
However, each supplier also has multiple collections. To name a few, Tafisa® alone has the Brava®, Feria®, Viva®, and Karisma® collections – plus others. The pricing can also vary between collections.
In addition, each collection has different characteristics, including decorative wrap patterns and textures. These unique attributes can affect the audience that purchases each collection.
As a result, you will find the information most helpful split out so that similar collections are addressed together.
Feria and Viva NEXGEN cabinet doors are cost-effective
The Feria and Viva collections, developed by Tafisa, were among the first NEXGEN collections developed. As a result, they do not mimic wood with the same accuracy as more recent collections.
However, they still achieve their purpose as a cost-effective alternative to wood. Thanks to the decorative wrap, NEXGEN doors do not require finishing. The wrap is also heat- and scratch-resistant, making them more durable than wood doors. And, if you need to replace a NEXGEN door later on, the wrap is also fade-resistant allowing the new door to match the original door exactly.
When combined with the MDF core, NEXGEN doors are also more stable than wood doors, with less tendency to move (warp, twist, shrink or expand) over time.
These factors together mean you:
- Pay less money for NEXGEN doors than wood doors.
- Are less likely to need to replace NEXGEN doors than wood doors.
- If you need to replace a NEXGEN door, you don’t have the hassle of finding an exact match to a wrap that has changed over time.
Characteristics specific to Feria and Viva NEXGEN cabinet doors
Overall, the Feria and Viva collections offer 20 decorative wraps in many patterns, colours and textures.
However, each of their options has the following characteristics in common:
1. Very little texture
Because the Feria and Viva collections were among the first developed, they have less texture than newer options. In fact, the finish is almost smooth.
The lack of texture makes NEXGEN cabinet doors in the Feria and Viva colours easy to clean.
However, it also makes the NEXGEN doors look less like real wood.
2. Unrealistic patterns
Again, because they were among the first collections developed, the Feria and Viva collections have unrealistic wood patterns. Unlike newer collections, the patterns used in the Feria and Viva decorative wraps look very little like the wood used in cabinet doors.
This lack of realism isn’t a problem if your customer is more concerned with the price tag than the appearance.
However, if your customer wants a lower price tag and a more realistic appearance, they should look at a newer collection.
3. Mid-range price
The Feria and Viva collections fall in the middle of the price range for NEXGEN cabinet doors. Many of the collections by Uniboard are more cost-effective, while the Tafisa Karisma collection is more expensive.
When should you choose NEXGEN cabinet doors?
NEXGEN cabinet doors in Tafisa Feria and Viva colours are an excellent choice for low-budget projects that require a high-quality product. With the durability offered by the construction method, combined with the lack of texture, Feria and Viva colours work well in high-use areas that require frequent cleaning.
However, they might not be the right choice for every project. You should go a different route if you have a high-budget project or a customer who specifically wants wood doors. The Feria and Viva collections do not mimic wood well enough to be an acceptable alternative to a customer who knows wood.
