However, just as you want to take time off, so do many suppliers, which can sometimes interfere with getting the products you need.

The Cutting Edge production team’s last day before the Christmas holiday is December 19. Any orders not completed by this date will ship after the New Year. However, the orders desk will remain open on December 20 to help finalize projects and ensure that all completed orders are shipped out before the holidays. Here’s a closer look at how our timeline unfolds:

  • December 19 – Final production day
  • December 20 – Orders desk remains open (but no production)
  • December 21 – January 1 – Full shutdown

By closing production just before Christmas, we ensure that our team members get the rest they need while enabling you to receive as many orders as possible before the holiday. Understanding this schedule is crucial for contractors who need timely deliveries, especially during this period.

Order Your Cabinet Doors Early to Avoid Holiday Delays

Timing is everything when it comes to cabinet door orders, especially before a holiday shutdown. Standard cabinet door orders at Cutting Edge generally take between 2-3 weeks to complete, but this timeframe can vary depending on the volume and the customizations you choose.

Our team recommends you place your orders by early December at the latest to avoid delays or unexpected rush fees. Here’s a general guideline for when to order:

  1. Standard Orders – Place orders by the first week of December.
  2. Custom Cabinet Doors – Order custom cabinet doors by mid to late November to accommodate any unique specifications.
  3. Rush Orders – Available but come with additional costs and no guarantee of availability close to the shutdown.

Because the Christmas season is our busiest, we strongly advise against relying on last-minute orders as space in our production schedule fills up quickly.

Need a Rush Order? How They Work (and Why You Shouldn’t Rely On Them)

Sometimes you need orders quickly to meet your deadlines. We offer rush orders to help in these situations; however, it’s important to note that rush orders during December are often limited. 

Rush orders come at an additional cost of 20% of the subtotal or $25, whichever is greater. While we aim to complete rush orders when possible, we cannot always accommodate every request in December. Rush orders close to the shutdown may be delayed until the New Year, depending on the order’s specifics.

You should place rush orders as early as possible if you need a quick turnaround. Last-minute rush requests are unreliable due to the volume of orders we receive during this period.

What Is Cutting Edge Doors’ Ordering Cutoff?

Unlike some suppliers, Cutting Edge Doors doesn’t have a hard ordering cutoff for December. While our last production day is December 19, you can place orders throughout December, and our team will do its best to get them shipped before the shutdown.

Keep in mind:

  • Orders placed on or after December 19 will not enter production until January.
  • Early December orders are more likely to be completed on time without rush fees.

Now, you can’t always avoid last-minute orders. We understand that things come up, pieces get missed or damaged, and you have a customer pushing you to complete their project. That’s why we strive to meet every deadline we can. However, orders placed close to the 19th may not ship until 6-8 weeks into the New Year, depending on your order specifications.

When Does Cutting Edge Doors Reopen After the Christmas Shutdown?

Following the Christmas and New Year’s break, Cutting Edge resumes production in early January:

  • January 2 – Partial production day to fill the line with orders.
  • January 3 – Full production resumes, with all Cutting Edge team members back on deck.

After January 3, production capacity ramps up gradually, reaching full speed by the second week of January. Standard lead times are back in effect by mid-January, so if you’re placing orders during this period, expect our usual processing times.
