A remake cabinet door is a warranty replacement
A remake cabinet door or a remake order is a replacement piece that Cutting Edge covers under warranty.
At Cutting Edge, we produce and ship remakes on a rush timeline, free of charge.
You can think of remake orders as a warranty replacement, a redo, a defective piece, or one of many other terms.
Why Cutting Edge calls warranty orders remakes
You might wonder why, out of all those options, Cutting Edge calls warranty replacements (or whatever your preferred term is!) remakes.
The answer is simple.
Cutting Edge partners with Allmoxy, a software company, to provide an online ordering option. Although we can customize a lot within their platform, there are details we can’t change. One of those is the user interface.
How does this link to remakes?
When you use our online ordering platform, you can request a remake order. When you click that button, the system automatically creates a remake order – and puts the phrase Remake of in the order name.
So, to keep our vocabulary consistent, our team uses the term remake when discussing warranty orders.
Lead time, requirements and process for your remake cabinet door
Now, you likely have more questions about remakes – like how soon do they ship? When can you request a remake? Plus, what happens after you request a remake?
1. We produce remake orders on a rushed timeline
When you order a remake cabinet door, you need it to ship as soon as possible. Often, a remake door is the last piece you need to complete a project. The longer a project takes to complete, the more likely your customer is to become frustrated and start finding other issues.
So, you must receive your replacement cabinet door without delay.
At Cutting Edge, we understand your need to receive remakes right away. So, our team makes it our priority to ship most remakes within three to five business days.
Of course, there are times when a three to five-day lead time is not possible. To learn why, read this article about how quickly remake orders ship.
And can you place just any order as a remake order to get it shipped for free? No – more about this later!
2. You can request a remake for any defect covered under warranty
At Cutting Edge, our one-year warranty policy covers any manufacturing defects. We stand behind our team and our work 100% of the time, so we will extend the warranty policy as needed to ensure you aren’t left with a defective product because of a mistake we made.
Manufacturing defects include:
- Warp or twist (when a cabinet door bends)
- Cabinet doors that are the wrong size (more than 1mm undersize or oversize; anything less than 1mm undersize or oversize is within tolerance because our machinery is accurate to 1mm.)
- Cabinet doors that have the wrong profile, door style, or wood species due to human error. Our team members are people, and we do make mistakes. However, human error occurs on less than 1% (176 out of 118,000) of pieces.
You can ask for a rush order in the description box in the right-hand sidebar. Our system doesn’t automatically add rush fees, but if your order is over 10 pieces, is complex, or your requested ship date is less than five working days, our team will add a rush fee.
Once your order is correct, click Submit Order and let the system walk you through completing and paying for your order.
When our team receives your order, we will review it and put it straight into production.
This option prevents delays while easily allowing you to get the correct door style information.
When you request a remake, you need to explain why. Tell our team, in as many or as few words as it takes, why you need us to replace the cabinet door under warranty.
3. After you request a remake
When you request a remake, our team reviews your order to ensure we have all the necessary information. If we are missing anything, we contact you to resolve it immediately.
Then, your remake order goes into production as a rush order. Our team puts your remake order ahead of other orders throughout the production line to ensure it is ready to ship as soon as possible.
Once your remake order is complete, we send it to you free of charge.
What if your cabinet door isn’t actually a remake?
You may have landed on this article by mistake, thinking a remake was a way to reorder cabinet doors that you or your team messed up – whether that was ordering the wrong size, wood species, profile, or drilling it wrong.
In any case, it isn’t a remake cabinet door, because it doesn’t fall under a warranty issue. So what do you need to do now?
You have two options:
1. Request a remake door
You can request a remake door anyway – this is a simpler ordering option if you don’t need to change any cabinet door details.
However, going this route can lead to delays. When our team reviews your order, we will notice that it isn’t a remake door based on the information you put in the explanation. If your explanation seems unlikely, our team will request images of the defective piece.
Then, we have to change your remake order to a new order. If you don’t have credit terms, we must contact you and wait for payment.
So we recommend you use the second option instead.
2. Duplicate the order
You can choose to duplicate an order instead of requesting a remake. Our system will create a new copy of your original order. Then, you can remove the pieces you don’t need and correct any details.
What prevents you from ordering new orders as remake orders?
In order to submit a remake order, our team must have already produced and shipped you that order. You can’t start a new order as a remake order. However, you can request a remake for a new cabinet door (not a defective piece) that we have already produced for you.
Although you technically CAN do this, it will not result in your order getting treated as a remake order if it doesn’t actually qualify as a remake. In fact, this will result in your order having a much longer lead time than ordering normally. Our team will put your order on hold while we confirm the actual details of your order.
Some people attempt to list an undamaged cabinet door as a remake just to get a free rushed order – and unfortunately, this just isn’t how it works.
