Five Types of Custom Drawer Organizers From Cutting Edge
At Cutting Edge, we offer five types of drawer organizers. Contractor discounts do not apply to these prices because most customers only order one piece at a time.
Now, each of these options (except the spice tray) is fully customizable. You can choose from any wood species, layout, and size. If you need it, we can make it happen. However, keep in mind that adding customizations increases the price. You will notice that the pricing charts later in this article show how some changes affect the cost.
1. DIY Drawer Organizer - $8.80+ per Piece
When you order a DIY drawer organizer, our team ships you 8’ lengths of your requested material. You can then cut that material into the size you need for the custom dividers.
DIY dividers are an excellent option if you need to fit dividers into an existing drawer box or if your customer isn’t sure of the layout they want.
We base the minimum price in this section on a 4” wide board, which is the usual height for drawers that need organizers.
Wood Type | Price Per 8’ Length | Add a Clear Lacquer Finish |
---|---|---|
Birch Plywood | $8.80 | +$10 per piece |
Natural Birch (solid wood) | $14.05 | +$10 per piece |
Maple (solid wood) | $17.11 | +$10 per piece |
White Oak (solid wood) | $34.25 | +$10 per piece |
2. Fixed Dividers - $10+ per Piece
When you order fixed dividers, we glue them into place in the drawer box. You can’t remove this type of divider without damaging the drawer box.
Unlike removable dividers, fixed dividers don’t have an exterior edge or a base, which increases the storage space.
Usually, fixed dividers split the drawer box into two or three equally-sized compartments. We base the minimum price on a drawer box with one divider. Adding extra dividers or finishing will increase the price.
Wood Type | Minimum Price (One Divider) | Add One Divider | Add a Clear Lacquer Finish |
---|---|---|---|
Birch Plywood | $10 | $10/divider | Included in the drawer box cost |
Natural Birch (solid wood) | $10 | $10/divider | Included in the drawer box cost |
Maple (solid wood) | $10 | $10/divider | Included in the drawer box cost |
White Oak (solid wood) | $15 | $15/divider | Included in the drawer box cost |
3. Spice Trays - $60+ per Piece
Spice trays have angled shelves for spice jars to rest on. Again, you can customize this option; however, our standard spice rack has four angled shelves.
You can only order spice trays in Birch plywood because the construction method doesn’t offer enough stability to hold solid wood steady over time.
Also, because Birch plywood is an inexpensive material, changing the size won’t change the price. However, adding a finish will increase the price. You will find the price for a clear lacquer finish below. If you want anything other than a clear lacquer finish, you will need to contact our team; the pricing depends on the finish you need.
Wood Type | Price | Add a Clear Lacquer Finish |
---|---|---|
Birch Plywood | $60 | +$15 per piece |
4. Removable Drawer Organizer (Without a Base) - $60+ per Piece
If you choose removable drawer organizers without bases, our team assembles a drawer organizer that fits within a specific drawer box but doesn’t fasten it down. If you need to remove the drawer organizer, you can – and it won’t damage the drawer box. However, this option doesn’t come with a base, which means when you remove it, the contents within the organizer remain in the drawer box.
We base the minimum price for this product on an unfinished drawer organizer with three openings, like the one shown below. Adding additional openings or finishing will increase the cost.
Wood Type | Minimum Price | Additional Compartments | Add a Clear Lacquer Finish |
---|---|---|---|
Birch Plywood | $60 | +$5 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
Natural Birch (solid wood) | $60 | +$5 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
Maple (solid wood) | $60 | +$5 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
White Oak (solid wood) | $70 | +$7 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
5. Removable Drawer Organizer (With a Base) - $65+ per Piece
If you choose a removable drawer organizer, our team assembles an enclosed organizer on a separate base. The drawer organizer fits into the drawer box but isn’t glued in. If you need to remove it, you can – without damaging the drawer box. Plus, you don’t need to worry about removing the contents of the drawer organizer.
Removable organizers are an excellent choice for deep drawers with a fixed divider underneath (you can lift the removable drawer organizer and its contents to access the lower divider).
We base the minimum price for this product on an unfinished drawer organizer with three openings, like the one shown below. Adding additional openings or finishing will increase the cost.
Wood Type | Minimum Price | Additional Compartments | Add a Clear Lacquer Finish |
---|---|---|---|
Birch Plywood | $65 | +$7 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
Natural Birch (solid wood) | $65 | +$7 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
Maple (solid wood) | $65 | +$7 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
White Oak (solid wood) | $75 | +$9 per compartment | +$15 per piece |
A Complex Drawer Organizer Is More Expensive
If you’ve worked in the woodworking or cabinetry industries for any length of time, you know that there are always custom requests that don’t fit within the usual pricing range. So what are these restrictions for drawer organizers? When should you contact our team to ensure you provide an accurate price to your customer?
There are three scenarios where you should request a quote from our team.
1. A Wood Species or Finish Not on the Pricing Charts
Ask our team for pricing if you don’t see the wood species or finish type you’re looking for.
2. Exceptionally Complex Organizers
If you need an angled or curved divider, our team will need to review the request to see if it’s possible.
3. Sample or Showroom Pieces
If you’re ordering drawer organizers for your showroom or as a sample for your reference, let us know so we can apply a discount.
You and Your Customers Expect Quick and Accurate Quotes
As more and more information is visible online, you and your customers expect quicker and more accurate quotes. The woodworking industry should be no different, but it is often impossible to find pricing for custom products.
