But what if there was an affordable option, something you could offer for a lower price without compromising on quality?

Enter NEXGEN cabinet doors.

At Cutting Edge, we understand that not all customers can afford to (or even want to) buy expensive custom cabinet doors. So, we sell NEXGEN cabinet doors, which are an affordable and durable option.

In this article, you will learn:

Explanation of NEXGEN Cabinet Doors

Cabinet door manufacturers produce NEXGEN cabinet doors using NEXGEN products supplied and trademarked by Olon Industries, Inc.

Now, while the stile and rail mouldings are from Olon Industries, the centre panel materials come from a few suppliers.

Each supplier charges a slightly different amount for the materials, which affects the cost. In addition, each supplier has several colour collections that also vary in cost. So, to keep things simple, we only discuss NEXGEN doors from Uniboard® collections in this article.

Cost of NEXGEN Cabinet Doors (Uniboard®) - $35.17+ Per Piece

All pricing in this article is retail pricing; if you are eligible for a contractor discount, apply that discount to these prices for accurate pricing.

In addition, each NEXGEN cabinet door is priced at a minimum of 1.5 square feet, which means there is a minimum cost per piece. Once the area of your cabinet door is over 1.5 square feet, multiply the square footage by the square foot cost to determine the total price.

Uniboard has four collections: Aura, Brushed Elm, Riviera Oak, and Sequoia. Different collections have different wood grain patterns and textures. Also, each collection has slightly different pricing. So, let’s look at the pricing for each collection.

The Aura Collection by Uniboard

Uniboard’s Aura collection has a linear grain pattern with a soft, slightly textured finish. Although the Aura collection has 21 colours total, at Cutting Edge, we only stock three of those colours for NEXGEN cabinet doors.

Colour Name Minimum Price per Piece Price per Square Foot
Maria $35.17 $23.44
Chill $35.91 $23.94
Storm $35.91 $23.94

The Brushed Elm Collection by Uniboard

Uniboard’s Brushed Elm collection combines linear and flared grain patterns similar to flat cut White or Red Oak. Some of the texture cuts horizontally across the grain pattern, lending a distinctive appearance.

The Brushed Elm collection has six colours in total. At Cutting Edge, we stock two of those colours for NEXGEN cabinet doors.

Colour Name Minimum Price per Piece Price per Square Foot
Driftwood $37.63 $25.08
Skye $37.63 $25.08

The Riviera Oak Collection by Uniboard

Uniboard’s Riviera Oak collection also combines linear and flared grain patterns. However, it is more textured than the Brushed Elm and Aura collections, pairing circular and linear texturing with occasional flecking reminiscent of quarter sawn White Oak.

The Riviera Oak collection has six colours, of which Cutting Edge has five available for NEXGEN cabinet doors.

Colour Name Minimum Price per Piece Price per Square Foot
Cassis $37.62 $25.08
Monaco $37.62 $25.08
Cannes $37.63 $25.08
Mistral $37.63 $25.08
Nizza $37.63 $25.08

The Sequoia Collection by Uniboard

Uniboard’s Sequoia collection is the most textured, with slight ridges following the linear grain pattern.

There are eight colours in the Sequoia collection; Cutting Edge stocks one of those colours for NEXGEN cabinet doors.

Colour Name Minimum Price per Piece Price per Square Foot
Dalia $36.37 $24.24

Now, why is the pricing slightly different within collections? Let’s take a look at that now!

Factors That Increase the Cost of NEXGEN Cabinet Doors

Because NEXGEN doors are a prefinished product, they are not customizable and have few accessories. Thus, only three factors increase the cost of NEXGEN cabinet doors.

Age of Material in Stock

At Cutting Edge, we base our door pricing on the material currently in stock. Depending on when we purchased the material, the pricing for some colours may be lower than others.

For example, material purchased within the last year is less expensive than material purchased more recently, as the prices increase. However, the actual age of the NEXGEN material is not a concern thanks to its wear- and fade-resistant properties.

Textured Finish Type

Uniboard sells two types of textured finishes – synchronized and non-synchronized textures. Of these two types, synchronized textures are more expensive.

In simple terms, synchronized textures look more like real wood. The texture matches the overall pattern of the material. For example, where the pattern is curved, the texture is curved to follow the pattern.

As you can imagine, it is more difficult to create a synchronized texture.

Uniboard’s Brushed Elm and Riviera Oak collections are both synchronized textures, which is why doors in those colours are more expensive.

Shipping Costs

Finally, shipping costs can affect the overall cost of your cabinet doors. Ordering one or two doors over 40” long will cost more to ship than ordering one or two doors under 40” long. This price difference is because couriers like Canada Post and Purolator do not accept shipments over 40” long; therefore, longer pieces must ship with trucking companies, which have much higher costs.

Alternatively, ordering enough doors to get over the $1000 subtotal free-freight threshold means that Cutting Edge will cover some, if not all, the shipping costs.

Discounts Available for Orders Over 100 Pieces

There is only one factor that will decrease the cost of your NEXGEN cabinet doors: volume.

If you order more than 100 pieces, or if your order is over $10,000 subtotal, your order is eligible for a 10% discount.

Alternatively, you may be eligible for better discounts based on the total quantity of cabinet doors you order. For example, if you are ordering NEXGEN cabinet doors for a large project, like an apartment building.

Price Out Your NEXGEN Cabinet Doors

As we all know, price plays a large role in determining what you purchase, especially when it comes to costly purchases like kitchen projects or cabinet doors. But that’s not all that matters – quality is important too. Selling a low-quality product means you risk your reputation, something you can’t afford as a trusted installer.

At Cutting Edge, we understand that you may not have the budget or inclination to purchase custom cabinet doors. Thus, we offer prefinished products; products that we have tested to ensure the quality is acceptable.

Now that you understand the approximate costs of Cutting Edge’s NEXGEN cabinet doors, you might be ready for more detailed information. If so, it is time for you to learn how to find current and accurate pricing online.
